Note to Seniors who are receiving a Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption:
It has come to our attention that there may be some confusion regarding your Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption and the Enhanced STAR Tax Exemption. These are TWO (2) DIFFERENT and SEPARATE Exemptions – the Enhanced STAR is for School Tax reductions (mailed out in the fall) and the Senior Exemptions are for your January Property Taxes. The Department of Taxation and Finance (the department which verifies income for the Enhanced STAR program) has recently mailed out letters regarding the Enhanced STAR income requirements. In that letter they state that you no longer need to supply your income/income worksheet to them. However, if you have received an application in the mail from the Assessors office with forms RP-467-Rnw and RP-Wkst enclosed, you need to complete these forms and return it to the Assessors office by no later than March 1, 2026, along with your 2024 income. Do not ignore or throw these forms away as they need to be completed and returned to the Assessors office in order for you to continue to receive your January property tax exemption next year. Thank you for your attention regarding this matter.

Town Assessor
