Warren County temporarily expanding Senior Meal Program during SNAP Delays

Nov 4, 2025

Warren/Hamilton Counties Office for the Aging plans to temporarily expand its senior meal program to help older residents deal with delays and potential cuts in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

The additional meals for seniors are among a host of actions Warren County leaders are taking to ensure that residents do not go hungry amid federal delays and/or proposed cuts to food assistance.

  • Warren/Hamilton Counties OFA is reminding those over the age of 60 that congregate meal sites are open for meals Monday-Friday, in addition to the home-delivered meal program. For a list of sites and hours, click here.  For more information about the OFA senior meal program, or to volunteer as a senior meals driver, call 518-761-6347.
  • Warren County Department of Social Services staff will be working with local food pantries to monitor food supplies, and Warren County has begun a food drive at Warren County facilities to help provide non-perishable items to food pantries around the county.

Said Warren County Administrator John Taflan: “We are encouraging residents to donate to their local food pantry to help their neighbors during these uncertain times. In addition, we have set up food collection boxes at Warren County Municipal Center and Warren County DPW for donations from our employees to pantries, and the public is welcome to drop non-perishable food with our staff to be transported to pantries.”

Collection boxes have been placed at:

  • The DMV entrance to Warren County Municipal Center, and the lobby of Warren County Human Services Building, both at 1340 Route 9, Queensbury.
  • Warren County DPW, 4028 Main Street, Warrensburg.

For those in need of transportation to access food pantries, Warren/Hamilton Counties OFA and Warren County Veterans’ Services operate a free senior shuttle program for seniors and military veterans in western and northern communities in Warren County. Details can be found here.

This program is open to those over the age of 60 as well as veterans of any age, and can be used for free transportation to food pantries, grocery stores or other errands.

County leaders are also exploring a number of other potential avenues of assistance to help alleviate ramifications of SNAP delays should they continue, and details will be publicly announced when finalized.
